About Kathryn

I’ve been a horse girl before I even had horses, and saved every penny of my babysitting money as a teen to finally become a horse owner. 🥹 I got my first horse when I was 12 - a 14 month gelding my sisters and I went in on, and I proceeded to train. I saved up for my my own mare by the time I was 13, and for the next decade+ “Surprise” and “Ruby” were a huge part of my everyday life! I was the one out at the barn before school, feeding, brushing, and riding every chance I got. Owning horses teaches you so much more than how to ride - it formed my sense of responsibility, ownership, patience, respect, and deepens my love for these amazing creatures. I primarily ride Western and am comfortable riding both saddled and bareback. I spent years trail riding, handling my horses on my own, and learning natural horsemanship through trainers like Monty Roberts and John Lyons. I’ve always believed in building trust with a horse instead of forcing it, and I genuinely enjoy just being around them. I’m comfortable catching horses in the pasture, haltering and leading, grooming, picking hooves, blanketing, feeding hay and grain, giving supplements, mucking stalls, filling water buckets and troughs, turning horses in and out, and recognizing when something just doesn’t seem quite right. I’m happy to follow your feeding routine and care instructions exactly as you prefer. If your horses enjoy being ridden and you’d like them exercised while you’re away, I’m comfortable with that too. (I don’t offer colt starting or advanced medical care like injections, but I’m happy to discuss any other needs.) One of my favorite memories growing up was actually catching a loose mustang that had escaped nearby and wandered onto the property behind ours. I was able to catch him, got him safely into our corral, worked with him on the ground, and even rode him bareback - only to find out afterward when we located the owners that no one had ever ridden him before, ha! I’ve always had a calm confidence around horses and my family used to call me the “horse whisperer”. Maybe it’s because I’ve watched The Man From Snowy River on repeat my whole life. 😅 I don’t currently own horses and I miss them more than I can say, but now that we have moved to acreage I fully plan to own more once we get settled and build a barn and proper fencing. Until then, I’d love the opportunity to care for yours! 🥹❤️🐎 I know how hard it is to leave horses behind when you travel. They’re not just animals, they’re family! My goal is to give you peace of mind knowing they’re being cared for by someone who genuinely loves and knows horses, understands their routines, notices the little things, and will treat them with the same patience, respect, care and attention I’d give for my own!
